Alan Pardew has criticised Manchester City and England international defensive midfielder Kalvin Phillips for his choice of non-alcoholic beverage.

Over the weekend, Manchester City defensive midfielder Kalvin Phillips gave an interview in which he provided an insight into his lifestyle.

Kalvin Phillips shares his favourite Five Guys non-alcoholic drink

Phillips told The Sunday Times about his favourite album, his favourite meal and his favourite film among other things.

The England international also shared his favourite non-alcoholic drink.

The former Leeds United star said: “Non-alcoholic – a Five Guys milkshake with Biscoff, chocolate, bananas and Oreos, all in the same one.”

Alan Pardew not impressed with Manchester City midfielder

Former Newcastle United and West Ham United manager Alan Pardew just could not believe it.

The talkSPORT pundit does not think that any footballer should have such a drink even on a day off.

Pardew is also surprised that Phillips has decided to put it out in the public domain given that City manager Pep Guardiola complained about him being overweight at one point last season.

The pundit said on talkSPORT (8:53pm, September 24, 2023): “That is some drink.

“To actually put out there, I mean, come on, Kalvin. Have a word with yourself.

“That’s not a drink for a footballer, that one, I am afraid.

“Not even on a day off, that’s not allowed.”

We do not see anything wrong with Kalvin Phillips enjoying the Five Guys milkshake.

Yes, it will have a lot of calories and diet is very important for footballers, but it is not as if the £150,000-a-week (Spotrac) Manchester City midfielder is drinking it all the time.

Footballers do have to enjoy their food and drink – like us all.

Just because Phillips indulges in a Five Guys milkshake from time to time does not mean that anyone should criticise him.

Let Phillips enjoy his life.
