Vincent Kompany has claimed that Manchester City will have a big advantage over Inter Milan in the upcoming Champions League final.
Having lost the 2021 final against Chelsea, Pep Guardiola’s side have the chance to make history tomorrow and win the club’s first Champions League title and complete the treble.
Looking ahead to the game in Istanbul, one former City player has shared his thoughts on how the squad and coaching staff will be approaching the match.
Kompany highlights City’s advantage over Inter
Speaking to Gary Neville on The Overlap, Kompany had this to say when asked how City will be preparing for Saturday’s final.
He said: “It’s a team that’s won so much, it will be as calm as you can imagine.
“They will do whatever they’ve done all season, they will go home, they will play with the kids, they’ll have a bit of a session, they’ll do some meetings about the opposition and they’ll go into the game like in any other.
“I think that’s the advantage when you’ve played in a lot of cup finals, you learn that it’s just another game.”

Given the domestic dominance that the Citizens have enjoyed in recent years in terms of winning numerous trophies, this showcases how much experience they have of playing in big games and coming out victorious more often than not.
Even their experience of losing the 2021 Champions League final will be a benefit for the players in terms of them being used to the occasion and not wanting to repeat the outcome this time around.
Also, with the hot form that City are in at the moment, only losing one game in all competitions since March, this will also put the players in a good position to pick up another win on Saturday.
However, they will still undoubtedly need to make sure they go into the game as prepared as possible given how they have never played Inter in a competitive match before.
