One of the biggest points of interest about Manchester City this season remains the future of Pep Guardiola.
The Man City manager’s current contract expires at the end of the 2024/25 campaign, and most supporters are desperate to see him extend.
Pep Guardiola joined the club back in the summer of 2016 and has been hugely successful at the Etihad Stadium, winning no less than 18 trophies (including Community Shields).
For many, he is the greatest manager of all time, and whoever is going to replace the Spaniard at City has massive shoes to fill.
But Manchester City fans hope the club won’t need to cross that bridge just yet, with Guardiola reportedly still deciding his future.
Yesterday, Fabrizio Romano provided fans with an update about the current feeling at the club over Guardiola’s contract situation.
Man City internally ‘confident’ Pep Guardiola will sign new contract

The journalist was speaking on his YouTube channel yesterday about Guardiola.
He offered a fairly positive update on the current situation, saying: “My information is that, internally at Manchester City, the CEO, owners, people in the club, remain confident at the club at least for one more season.
“But let’s see for the future.
“Manchester City are still confident and pushing to keep Pep Guardiola at the club. The final approval is on Pep. The final green light is on Pep.
“At the moment, Manchester City are still hoping to keep Pep at the club and are still confident on this possibility. For sure, Pep Guardiola is still taking his time to decide. City are not giving up.”
Romano also stressed that Guardiola’s decision will not be affected by the news that Txiki Begiristain is set to leave Manchester City next summer.
The club’s director of football is to move on and take a sabbatical, after first joining the club in 2012.
Guardiola contract extension at Man City feels likely
Guardiola will be gutted Begiristain is leaving Manchester City, but it still feels that he’s likely to sign a new contract.
Ultimately, Guardiola has achieved extraordinary things at the club and is absolutely idolised by the fans.
Everything is in place for him to succeed and it always has pretty much always been that way. The backing and support he has received from his superiors will not be lost on him.

Guardiola has already hinted that he could extend, admitting he would ‘love to stay’ back in July (via Sky Sports).
It is just about whether he still has that same hunger to carry on for a bit longer. There have been no suggestions that Guardiola is running out of energy or getting bored, and there is surely a great chance of him finally extending his contract later this season.
It was claimed earlier this year that City would like Guardiola to decide his future by Christmas. Because the club know that it will take them a fair bit of time to choose the right replacement if he is going to leave. Hopefully, it will not come to that.
