Morgan Rogers is set to become the new most expensive player in British football history, and that could actually help one man at Manchester City.
It has been widely reported that Chelsea are landing Rogers in a deal worth £117 million.
Rogers has been a standout player for Aston Villa over the past couple of years, and Chelsea have moved to make him theirs, with a medical to take place on Monday.
The news filtered through on Saturday evening, and it has rather come as a surprise, with Arsenal looking like they were in pole position.
But Rogers will be at Stamford Bridge next season – and his price tag is surely great news for Manchester City’s newest signing Elliot Anderson.

Just a few weeks ago, Manchester City signed Elliot Anderson in a deal worth £116 million.
Inevitably, a lot was made of that fee, and it was a British record fee.
But Rogers’ move will break that record once it goes through, and this is surely a good thing for Anderson.
Carrying the tag of being the most expensive player brings about pressure.
Whether it’s the most expensive player ever, or the most expensive player in British football history, there is no escaping the fact that nobody cost more than you.
Anderson will now not carry that label.
Even if Rogers did only cost around £1 million more than Anderson, it is he who will now have that title and try to manage the pressure that comes with it.
For Anderson, there is a bit more freedom now.
In fairness, he might well have coped just fine being the most expensive player in British football history because he’s a very self-assured and relaxed individual.
That said, he will still be under the microscope because he still moved for a gargantuan fee.
But perhaps not being the absolute most expensive will be good for him psychologically and allow him to play more freely and settle quicker.
