Bernardo Silva has shared what Pep Guardiola says to his Manchester City players before big games.

The Citizens have their biggest match of the season ahead of them this weekend as they take on Inter Milan in the Champions League final, having beat Bayern Munich and Real Madrid to get there.

Having already had their fair share of big games to overcome to get their hands on another Premier League title and the FA Cup, one City player has shared some behind-the-scenes details on what happens prior to these sorts of fixtures.

Silva shares Guardiola message

Speaking in a recent video from the club’s official YouTube channel building up to Saturday’s final in Istanbul, Silva said this about what the manager says to his players before significant matches.

He said: “The message he gives to us in these matches, not only against Real Madrid, is to get to the end of the tie with no regrets.

“Reaching these moments is tough, you have to seize them as you don’t know if you’ll ever make it again.”

Having beat Bayern over two legs in the quarter-finals with an aggregate score of 4-1, followed by an aggregate score of 5-1 against Real in the semis, it’s safe to say that City have sufficient experience of preparing and featuring in big games.

With Guardiola winning two Champions League titles during his time in charge of Barcelona, this experience will give him the knowledge of how he wants his players to be in terms of their mindset heading into this final, even though they were beaten in the 2021 final by Chelsea.

Given the impressive amount of results the Citizens have produced this season, losing just five Premier League games, one in the Carabao Cup and in the Charity Shield, this should fill the players with confidence that they can pick up another victory this time around when it matters the most.

In fact, if they were to beat Inter on Saturday, they would have gone through the entire tournament without losing a game.
