Manchester City are set to land Jeremy Doku from Rennes.

An an agreement was reached on Monday between the two clubs, and there is an expectation now that the move will complete soon.

Doku flew to England yesterday.

And he is set to undergo his medical at the club today.

City are hoping to have the player registered for the weekend’s game with Sheffield United.

Fans are really excited about the capture of Doku.

He represents something different for City, who have mainly used technical and more methodical wingers in recent times.

And it has now been suggested what Pep Guardiola really admires about Doku…

Pep Guardiola likes three things in particular about Jeremy Doku

The Athletic have produced an interesting piece about Doku, and why City are signing him.

The Belgian was not City’s first choice. But the club are confident that they are landing a player with great potential.

He is rough around the edges right now. His end product is said to be somewhat inconsistent.

But he does have traits that Pep really likes.

The Athletic say that Pep is ‘excited’ by Doku’s pace, dribbling and ability to shoot with either foot.

That said, Doku is a player who is still in the Jack Grealish and Riyad Mahrez mould, as he likes the ball to feet and close-quarters dribbling.

It is stated that Pep feels there will be more games this season where the opposition mark his players man-to-man.

So potentially, Doku could be a handy signing.

Doku will be fascinating to watch

It is going to be really fascinating to watch Doku play for City.

The star is still very young and raw.

And he is just not the type of player Pep has banked on in the recent times.

But clearly the Spaniard sees a few things he really likes in Doku, and feels he can be a good fit in his system.

It’s going to be fantastic watching him fly down those wings at the Etihad.
