Roy Hodgson has now responded after being asked if Crystal Palace could sign Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City this month.
The 76-year-old made the comments when speaking in his press conference earlier on Tuesday.
So, what did Roy Hodgson say about Kalvin Phillips? Let’s take a look…
What Roy Hodgson said about Kalvin Phillips
Well, the Crystal Palace boss did not rule out the prospect of Manchester City’s No.4 ending up at Selhurst Park this month.
Hodgson said: “Yeah, he’s a good player. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a name that’s out there (for us). All we know is that there is a possibility that Man City will either sell him or loan him.
“If they are purely going to sell him, then I don’t think we will be in the market. If they’re going to loan him, I would like to think that we could possibly put our hand up and push ourselves forward.
“What we could then of course offer is the chance to play regular football in the Premiership in the build-up to what will be a very important summer for England and for him.”

According to ESPN, Manchester City are demanding a loan fee of £7m to let Phillips depart the Etihad Stadium this month, as well as an obligation to buy him on a permanent basis this summer.
That is quite the commitment for interested parties to make – ESPN add that Newcastle and Juventus have already been put off by the demands.
That initially suggested Crystal Palace would not be able to facilitate a move for Phillips either, although Hodgson does not typically entertain or elaborate transfer rumours in press conferences, so a move to south London cannot be ruled out.
Kalvin Phillips could leave Manchester City for Crystal Palace
Sami Mokbel has also opened the door for a side like Crystal Palace to sign Phillips this month.

Amid links to Tottenham as well, the Chief Football Reporter for the Daily Mail told the Last Word on Spurs podcast: “What I think will happen eventually with Kalvin Phillips is that the big clubs – like Tottenham – who have looked at it, thought about it and maybe thought, no, probably not for us, they will then move on and a lower level of club will maybe look to do (a deal for) Kalvin Phillips later on in the window, if they can do it at a lower price.”
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as a shock transfer for Phillips could happen this month.
