TalkSPORT pundit Jason Cundy has said he can’t believe Manchester City would consider selling Kyle Walker.
Earlier this week, it was reported that the Englishman has verbally agreed a move to Bayern Munich, with City looking to get £15m for him.
This has since led to one pundit sharing his reaction to this latest news.
Cundy baffled by potential Walker exit
Speaking on talkSPORT, Cundy had this to say about Walker and the possibility of seeing him leave City this summer.
He said: “I think he’s the best right-back England have ever had. I would go as far as saying the best right-back the Premier League has seen. I don’t think there’s a better right-back.
“His pace is phenomenal, there’s no sign whatsoever of him slowing up, eventually he will, of course he will, but right now I can’t believe that City are considering selling him.”
City signed the full-back from Tottenham Hotspur back in the 2017 summer transfer window for a reported fee of £50m.
Since then, the Englishman has made 254 appearances for the Citizens across all competitions, winning five Premier League titles and numerous other trophies in the process.
Cundy’s recent comments about the 33-year-old’s pace are not the first time this aspect of his game have been praised by a former player.
In fact, Thierry Henry said back in May after Walker put in an impressive defensive display against Vinicius Junior in City’s 4-0 win over Real Madrid that opponents may as well stop running if they have the England international chasing them.
Having proved himself to be a very important player and a top performer in some of City’s biggest games, we agree with Cundy that the club should have no intention of letting the England international leave this summer.
Moving forward, if there’s a chance the veteran can be convinced to stay at the Etihad Stadium, the treble winners should do all they can to make it happen.
