Pundit Chris Sutton has shared his prediction for Manchester City’s upcoming Premier League clash against Chelsea.

Following on from last weekend’s 6-1 victory over Bournemouth and their midweek Champions League win against Young Boys, Pep Guardiola’s side travel to west London to take on Chelsea for their latest Premier League outing.

Looking ahead to this big game, one pundit has shared his thoughts on how this particular match could pan out.

Written in his latest prediction column for BBC Sport ahead of this weekend’s top-flight fixtures, Sutton had this to say about City’s clash at Stamford Bridge.

He said: “This result really depends on how City play, though, rather than what Chelsea try to do. Pep Guardiola’s side have a few injuries to contend with but it doesn’t really make much difference who comes in or out of their team. Their squad is just so strong. Whoever plays, City are just relentless. They will win by two goals, it’s only really a question of whether Chelsea will score or not.”

With both sides having played 11 league games, City find themselves at the top of the table with 27 points having won nine and losing two of their matches.

Across those games, the Citizens have scored 28 goals and conceded eight, leaving them with the best attacking and defensive record in the division.

As for Chelsea, they have racked up a mixed bag of results so far, winning four, drawing three and losing four, finding the net 17 times and conceding 12 goals along the way.

Even though Mauricio Pochettino’s side gave Tottenham Hotspur their first defeat of the campaign on Monday with a 4-1 victory away from home, it’s easy to see why Sutton has backed City to grab all three points this weekend.

Moving forward, if the Manchester club can leave Stamford Bridge with a win this weekend, this will take them a step closer to regaining their Premier League title and put the players in a good space heading into the latest international break.
