Thierry Henry says he just can’t see one thing happening with Man City as Arsenal struggles continue

Manchester City are currently not the only Premier League title contender struggling, with Arsenal having also hit the rocks.

Manchester City fans were left dismayed on Tuesday night, as Pep Guardiola’s side produced an awful defensive display to lose 4-1 to Sporting CP in the Champions League.

City started the game well, but totally fell apart in the second-half.

But last night, Arsenal also fell to a defeat in the Champions League against Inter, who held City to a 0-0 draw earlier in the League Phase.

A Hakan Calhanoglu penalty was the difference at San Siro, and Arsenal now sit 12th in the table.

Arsenal have certainly been stuttering of late. The Gunners are winless in their last three Premier League games and have lost ground in the title race.

For Thierry Henry, it is not a good situation for his former club, as he made a comment about Manchester City.

Many people were tipping Arsenal to win the Premier League title this season, having come up just short in the last two campaigns.

But it has been a disappointing past few weeks for the Gunners, and now their struggles have spilled into the Champions League.

Thierry Henry was on hand last night to give his thoughts about Arsenal after their 1-0 loss, and he spoke about the title race.

He admits that he just cannot see Manchester City – and also Liverpool – collapsing.

He said (as quoted by the Mirror): “Right now they’re not challenging for the league, obviously as you can see the results are not good enough to be able to be at the top, still a long way to go.

“I think it [would] be extremely difficult (for Arsenal to keep pace if they lose to Chelsea).

“Why? Because you have too many teams to catch. One team can have a problem, but one or two – we’re going with Liverpool and Man City – I don’t see two teams collapsing, that’s my issue.”

Man City must pick up results en route to January

Right now, it is clear that City have a number of issues.

Guardiola needs to find a way of showing up his team, having looked very vulnerable to counter-attacks this season with the high line.

City fans feel Rodri is being missed a lot, and clearly the team is still adapting to playing in the Spaniard’s absence.

Right now, it is about picking up results for City amid a challenging period.

City need to keep pace with Liverpool at the top, and just grind out results. The objective should be to remain in touch with the Reds by the time the January transfer window rolls around.

The club should perhaps then seek to make a couple of additions to try and take a bit of pressure off the squad.
