‘This is possible’: Pundit reckons Man City could absolutely destroy Man United this weekend

Pundit Steve Nicol has suggested that Manchester City could score a handful of goals against Manchester United tomorrow.

The two sides are set to face off against each other tomorrow at Old Trafford for the first time in the Premier League this season.

Looking ahead to the big game, one pundit has made an interesting claim about what sort of scoreline could be on the horizon.

Speaking in a recent video published on the ESPN FC YouTube channel, Nicol had this to say about what sort of performance Pep Guardiola’s side could deliver tomorrow.

He said: “They are due to batter somebody. City sides of the past, we have been talking about fours and fives and this is possible because Manchester United have been giving up chances and they’ve been pulling rabbits out of the hat in terms of [Scott] McTominay and others are concerned to actually win and get points out of games.

“I just don’t see any way that Man City don’t come here, dominate the game and give Manchester United a bit of a spanking.”

The Red Devils are used to getting their heads handed to them in big games, having lost to City 6-3 last season at the Etihad Stadium and 7-0 to Liverpool at Anfield as well.

However, with this clash being at Old Trafford, where City lost 2-1 in the previous campaign, we feel that it would be a hard task for the Citizens to score an eye-catching amount of goals.

On the flip side, with the Blues having the highest average of possession per 90 minutes in the league this season (63.3%), this makes it easy to see why Nicol thinks City have a strong chance of dominating the game.

Overall, regardless of what the scoreline is, it’s safe to say that Guardiola’s main thought will be to leave Old Trafford with all three points and see his side take a step closer to regaining the Premier League title.
