Ilkay Gundogan was the man of the moment yesterday for Manchester City, as he scored two and made an assist in a 3-0 win against Everton.
City have gone four points clear at the top of the Premier League.
After City’s win, Arsenal then came unstuck against Brighton, losing 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium.
The latest results mean City can now win the title against Chelsea next Sunday.
Yesterday, Pep Guardiola made a few changes to the starting XI with Real Madrid next week in mind.
One man who kept his place in the side was Gundogan, with Kevin De Bruyne dropping out of the side.
City would not miss the Belgian, with Gundogan stepping up to the plate as he so often does when De Bruyne doesn’t play.
He opened the scoring with a sublime flick that left Roy Keane in awe in the Sky Sports studio.
He then crossed for Erling Haaland to score an easy header.
In the second-half, Gundogan grabbed his second with a wonderful free-kick to make it an easy afternoon at the office for City.
Gundogan’s performance was outstanding and of course, there is now a lot more noise about him getting a new contract. His current deal expires in the summer.
After the game, Gundogan posted on social media and there were hundreds of comments from fans telling him how brilliant he was.
Some City players were also in the comments, with John Stones perhaps summing it up the best. He said simply ‘What a player’.
Gundogan’s Germany teammate Thomas Muller also replied, describing the maestro’s first goal as ‘delicious’.

City have done a lot of very good transfer deals in recent times.
But the £20 million spent on Gundogan has to be up their with one of the best in the club’s history.
Gundogan can do it all. He is world-class playing as a number six or a number eight, and his finishing for a midfield player is absolutely fantastic.
He always comes in clutch at the business end of the season, and that in itself makes him an amazing signing.
But Gundogan is just so consistent for City and the thought of him moving on at the end of the season is very uncomfortable.
