Manchester City midfielder Rodri delivered a strong performance in Spain’s latest international match.
In their latest qualifying match for Euro 2024, Spain beat Georgia 7-1 thanks to goals from Alvaro Morata, Dani Olmo, Nico Williams, Lamine Yamal and an own goal from Solomon Kvirkvelia.
Despite not being able to get himself on the scoresheet, Rodri still managed to deliver an eye-catching performance to further prove himself as one of the best midfielders in Europe right now.
Rodri wowed in Georgia win

During his 72 minutes on the pitch before being replaced by Martin Zubimendi, the 27-year-old had 109 touches of the ball in total, accurately completing 98 of the 104 passes he attempted, leaving him with an overall passing accuracy percentage of 94%, the highest of any midfielder or attacker that started for Spain.
In addition to that, the City star had one shot on target, made three key passes and created one big chance for his side.

Then from a defensive point of view, Rodri, who has been praised by Nedum Onuoha for the “massive” goals he’s scored for his club, was able to make two tackles and win three of the four duels he was involved in.
This display ultimately earned the midfielder an overall match rating of 7.8/10 from SofaScore, leaving only Olmo and Morata with higher ratings than him in the initial starting XI.
With that in mind and taking into account how Rodri is one of the four outfield City players that have started in all four of their Premier League games so far this season, it’s clear that he is just as important for his national side as he is for the Citizens.
