Nigel Reo-Coker has suggested Declan Rice could find himself joining Manchester City this summer.

Earlier this week, it was reported that the Citizens are exploring the possibility of making a move to sign the West Ham United midfielder after Arsenal saw an offer of £80m plus add-ons rejected for him.

This has led to one former Premier League player sharing his thoughts on the situation and how this particular transfer saga could end.

Speaking in a recent edition of BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily podcast, Reo-Coker said this about Rice’s situation and what the outcome of his transfer saga could be.

He said: “I think, personally, Declan wants to go to Arsenal, but I think that West Ham will make it difficult for him.

“I think that there is real interest from Manchester City because, obviously, there’s the situation with [Ilkay] Gundogan and [Bernardo] Silva, their situation, and I think that’s what West Ham want, they want Manchester City to get involved because I do personally believe there is strong interest from there and I could end up seeing him going to Manchester City, to be honest.”

With 204 Premier League appearances to his name at the age of 24, the England international already has a significant amount of top-flight experience under his belt that he could offer City.

Back in April, talkSPORT pundit, Adrian Durham, labelled the Hammers captain as a “world class” player, which showcases how impressive Rice is on the pitch.

Having seen the club and several of his England teammates win the treble in recent weeks, this and the opportunity to work under Pep Guardiola would surely make a move to the Etihad Stadium a tempting prospect for Rice.

Bearing in mind how it was recently reported that Arsenal are readying a bid of £100m to land the midfielder this summer, it’s safe to say that if City want to be the ones that sign him, they’ll have to move quickly and come up with a significant fee that West Ham are willing to accept.
