Manchester City have seen many players leave the club over recent years.
One, in particular, is Tommy Doyle, who after working his way through City’s academy and making seven senior appearances for the club, the midfielder joined Wolves on an initial loan deal in 2023 before it was made permanent this summer.
Having spent such a long time at the Etihad Stadium, the 22-year-old got to train and play with a significant number of players at City, some of which are still at the club and others who have left.
Now though, the Englishman has made a claim about two of City’s most significant players of the past 10 years.

Tommy Doyle ranks Fernandinho above Yaya Toure
Appearing in a recent video shared on the Wolves TikTok channel, Doyle was involved in a challenge where he had to blind rank 10 former Premier League midfielders based on who he thinks is best.
After putting Fernandinho in second place, Doyle then chose to put Yaya Toure in third rather than first.
Toure and Fernandinho were top players for City
Between 2010 and 2018, Toure made 316 appearances across all competitions, scoring 80 goals, delivering 47 assists and winning three Premier League titles.
In comparison, Fernandinho scored 26 goals, supplied 31 assists and won five league trophies in 383 games between 2013 and 2022.
With Doyle appearing in two games with the Brazilian during their time together at City and none with Toure, this could be why he chose to put the Ivorian behind Fernandinho.
However, with James Ward-Prowse saying back in February how hard it used to be to play against Toure, there can be no denial about how much of a top player the former midfielder was and how much of a great signing he was for City.
