Callum Wilson has praised Kevin De Bruyne ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash between Newcastle and Manchester City.

The 31-year-old made the comments when speaking on The Players Channel podcast.

So, what did Callum Wilson say about Kevin De Bruyne? Let’s take a look…

What Wilson said about De Bruyne

Well, the £20m Newcastle striker was very complimentary towards the Belgian, after being told that he could make a return to Pep Guardiola’s starting XI in Saturday’s clash at St James’ Park.

Wilson said: “Top player. He is going to make a positive difference to them, a positive impact for them. We beat them already, one of few teams to do it this season… and it was at St James’ let’s not forget.

“We’re gonna need the fans, we’re gonna need the atmosphere, we’re gonna need the cold, they’re not used to it so they’ll get all disorientated.”

De Bruyne made just his third appearance of the season in Sunday’s 5-0 FA Cup win over Huddersfield, and even provided an assist for Jeremy Doku just 15 minutes after replacing Julian Alvarez.

Newcastle might actually manage to avoid Manchester City No.17

Guardiola may actually refrain from using De Bruyne against Newcastle.

The Spaniard recently admitted that the Belgium international needs to get a few more training sessions under his belt before he can be involved in the starting XI.

Guardiola told the BBC: “He needs to accumulate training sessions more than games. At Newcastle we have another chance and then two weeks to have some good training in Abu Dhabi.”

Joleon Lescott also feels it may be too early to start De Bruyne on Saturday, given the intensity of matches at St James’ Park.

Therefore, Wilson and his Newcastle teammates could avoid the Manchester City No.17 this weekend, although Guardiola still has plenty of attackers who can cause Eddie Howe problems regardless.
