Manchester City megastar Erling Haaland pays tribute to Riyad Mahrez after Al-Ahli move is confirmed
Branded as ‘unplayable’ by Jermain Defoe, the former Leicester City winger was on the periphery of things at the Etihad Stadium last season.
Despite having been such a key player for Pep Guardiola’s men over the years, it was telling that he was not a starter in either the FA Cup final or the Champions League final.
Erling Haaland gave Riyad Mahrez the credit he deserves in a classy message after his move to Al-Ahli was confirmed.

“A top player and a top person, we will miss you, bro. Proud to have played with you”, he said.
Riyad Mahrez deserves all the praise in the world for his spell in sky blue
Considering the whole host of world-class players at City, there is a tendency for some to often be underappreciated and such has been the case with the five-time Premier League winner.
As a result, it is a lovely sight to see the game’s biggest name in Erling Haaland laud Riyad Mahrez after spending a season with him on and off the pitch.
Apart from his debut campaign, Mahrez has always been such an influential performer at City.
Be it from 2019 to 2021, where the 32-year-old was perhaps their best forward or even after his peak years at the club, where he became an absolute output machine.
And yet, Riyad Mahrez rarely gets his shine amongst the masses, despite being one of the best widemen of his generation and a bona fide Premier League legend.
