John Stones has shared what the Manchester City fans did that made him feel very special this season.

The 29-year-old recently picked up his fifth Premier League title and second FA Cup with the Citizens and could now get his hands on his and the club’s first Champions League trophy should they beat Inter Milan on Saturday in Istanbul.

Building up to this big final, Stones has highlighted one significant part of his season that came off the pitch involving the City fans.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday (via talkSPORT), Stones had this to say when asked how it feels to hear the City supporters chant his name and show their appreciation for him.

He said: “It’s incredible. I can’t put it into words sometimes.

“One moment that when we were picking up our Premier League medals and it rang around the stadium was something that really hit home and touched my heart and my family’s hearts as well they spoke about it after.

“To feel the love and support from everyone in the stadium, wherever I go, I can only say thank you.”

This season has seen the England international make 33 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing three assists along the way.

In addition to that, Stones has shown his versatility by playing in the centre-back, right-back and defensive-midfielder roles throughout the campaign.

This led to Guardiola sharing his praise and appreciation for the player and his ability to play across these roles and do it at a high standard.

Having ended his latest Premier League campaign with the joint-second-highest passing accuracy percentage (93%) in the division, this showcases what his main attribute is and how comfortable he is in possession across the defence and midfield.

Moving forward, with Saturday undoubtedly being City’s biggest game of the season, if Stones can put in a solid display and help his side win the trophy, there will definitely be a lot of supporters chanting his name and showing their continued admiration for him.
