Journalist Graeme Bailey has claimed that Bernardo Silva is looking to leave Manchester City this summer.
The midfielder was linked with a move to Barcelona last summer before deciding to stay at the Etihad Stadium.
With his latest season now over, interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Saudi Arabia has emerged around the player.
This has led to one journalist sharing some behind-the-scenes details on the matter.
Journalist says Silva wants City exit
Speaking in a recent video on the Chasing Green Arrows YouTube channel, Bailey said this about Silva and what the summer could look like for him and City.
He said: “He, for whatever reason, wants to leave. He wanted to leave last summer, he still wants to leave now.
“Even though a Barcelona deal looks highly unlikely at this moment in time purely because of the valuation, but it seems that he’d rather go to Paris Saint-Germain than stay at City.
“Obviously, there is this Saudi interest as well, I still have been told he’s more likely to go to PSG than Saudi but either way, he wants out.
“It’s a tough one, losing [Ilkay] Gundogan and Silva is going to be a tough one for Pep to get over, but if anyone is capable of doing it it’s City and Pep.
“[Mateo] Kovacic is already over the line, [Josko] Gvardiol, even if they don’t get [Declan] Rice, it will be someone else, maybe [Joshua] Kimmich. There’s obviously someone else on their radar.”
As Bailey mentioned, City could be seeing Gundogan wave goodbye to the club this summer having reportedly agreed a deal to join Barcelona in recent days.
So the prospect of losing their captain and Silva, who featured in all but six of the club’s matches last season, in the same summer will undoubtedly be a big blow for the club and force them into having to find suitable replacements.
With the Citizens agreeing a deal to sign Kovacic and in talks to sign Rice, these two players could well be the ideal replacements the club have in mind should they find themselves without their two current midfield options moving forward.
In terms of Silva, the opportunity to cash in on him and get rid of the constant speculation around his future could be appealing to them, regardless of his prominence in the team, especially if they already have a new midfield option through the door.
