Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is very familiar when it comes to playing against Manchester City.

At the age of 26, the right-back has made 321 senior appearances for the Merseyside club across all competitions, scoring 19 goals and providing 83 assists along the way.

Out of those 321 games, 15 of them have been against City which have resulted in six wins for the Reds, three draws and six defeats.

Having only played against Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur (16) on more occasions than Pep Guardiola’s side, the Englishman certainly has sufficient knowledge of the Blues and what they’re all about.

With that in mind, the full-back has now opened up about one particular aspect of what he’s experienced during previous matches with the champions.

Trent Alexander-Arnold hails Man City atmosphere

Appearing in a recent video shared on the Sky Sports Premier League X account, Alexander-Arnold was asked to rank certain top-flight clubs based on the atmosphere at their stadium.

When asked about his experience of the Etihad Stadium atmosphere, the Liverpool defender gave this honest verdict.

He said: “You know what? People always talk about Man City’s atmosphere. A lot of people talk about Manchester City’s atmosphere. And, you know, hand on heart, when we play them, the atmosphere is incredible. Like we feel it. It’s intense. The atmosphere is always really good there.”

Alexander-Arnold knows what it’s like to compete with City in a title race

Aside from City’s electric atmosphere, Alexander-Arnold explained how hard it is to compete with City in a title race, giving this admission on the matter back in April.

He said: “When you get into a title race with City, it’s the turn of the year, they are borderline perfect and you can’t really slip up and make a mistake.

“When you do lose those points and you give them the upper hand, it’s difficult because they don’t really blink in those moments, they don’t really slip, they don’t seem like they’re going to drop points, it’s a like a well-oiled machine, it’s what they do.

“They click and there’s no stopping them.”

For their first league match of December, the Citizens will be taking on Arne Slot’s side for the first time this season at Anfield.

Then in February, Alexander-Arnold and the rest of his Liverpool teammates will once again experience the Etihad atmosphere when they travel to Manchester for their second league meeting of the campaign.

Now that the Reds full-back has shared how impressed he has always been with the atmosphere at City’s home ground, this should make it clear to other clubs and fanbases in the Premier League that the Blues have one of the best atmospheres in the division.
