Manchester City will be back in Premier League mode this weekend for another match in their 2024/25 season.
For their sixth match of the campaign, City will be taking on Fulham in front of their home fans at the Etihad Stadium.
The Blues head into this match against the Cottagers off the back of two previous league draws against Arsenal and Newcastle United.
Despite that, Pep Guardiola’s side did manage to secure their first Champions League victory of the season in midweek with a convincing 4-0 win over Slovan Bratislava away from home.
With the champions now set to be back on home turf for their meeting with the West London club, one pundit and former top-flight player has shared his thoughts on the match whilst pinpointing one particular figure from City’s squad he thinks will be one to watch on this occasion.

Troy Deeney picks one Man City player he thinks will stand out against Fulham
Whilst previewing and predicting the scores for this weekend’s round of Premier League fixtures in a recent video shared on his official TikTok page, Troy Deeney had this to say about City’s match with Fulham.
He said: “It’s a real difficult one because I like City, everyone loves City, but I do like Fulham and I love Marco Silva.
“I think they’ve got pace in the wide areas and the trickery and the confidence to actually try and go to Man City with no fear.
“I’m going to say – I do think Fulham score – I’m going to go 4-1 Man City. I think we’re going to see Foden start. I’ve got a feeling Phil is going to start and he’s going to do his thing.”
How has Foden started this season so far?
After being named the Premier League Player of the Season last year and starting all seven of England’s matches in the 2024 European Championship over the summer, this latest season has yet to get going for Foden.
For example, the £225k-a-week midfielder has yet to start a league game for his side, making just three substitute appearances in total.
However, the 24-year-old completed the full 90 minutes against Bratislava and was able to grab his first goal and assist of the season.
After the game, Guardiola said he was very happy to see Foden score but admitted he still has some way to go before he can be considered back to his best form.
With Deeney now backing the Englishman to not only start against Fulham but also deliver a star performance, this could be the ideal opportunity for him to do so and get his season up and running.
