Manchester City will be taking on Ipswich Town for their second Premier League match of the 2024/25 season on Saturday afternoon.
In their opening match of the new campaign, Pep Guardiola’s side beat Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge thanks to goals from Erling Haaland and Mateo Kovacic.
With City now set to take on Kieran McKenna’s side in their first game at the Etihad Stadium this term, one pundit and former top-flight player has shared his thoughts on how this match against Ipswich could pan out.

Troy Deeney drops prediction for Man City vs Ipswich Town
Deeney shared a post on his official TikTok page where he previewed and predicted the scores for this weekend’s round of Premier League fixtures.
On the subject of City’s home match against Ipswich, Deeney had this to say on the matter.
He said: “Unfortunately I think this is going to be a drubbing and I think they’ll realise really quickly that they’re in the Prem when you go to City.
“So, I can see this being, this even sounds horrible, I think this will be 5-0.”
City will expect to beat Ipswich
Deeney isn’t the only pundit to back City to secure a convincing win over their next opponents as Chris Sutton predicted City to land a 4-0 victory over Ipswich.
In their previous Premier League campaign, City won 28 of their 38 games, drawing seven and losing three, bagging more goals (96) than any other side in the division.
Having won four consecutive Premier League trophies and are now on the hunt for a fifth, it’s safe to say that the home side will be the favourites to pick up another win this time around against Ipswich.
Moving forward, even though McKenna’s side will be aiming to land a big shock and walk away with something, it seems very likely that Deeney’s prediction will come true.
