Manchester City are not shy when it comes to selling players to fellow Premier League clubs.
For instance, previous transfer windows have seen City cash in on the likes of Cole Palmer, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko to other sides in the top flight.
Another player the Manchester club sold to one of their Premier League rivals in recent memory is Raheem Sterling.
After spending seven years at the Etihad Stadium, the winger joined Chelsea in a deal worth a reported fee of £47.5m (via Sky Sports) during the 2022 summer transfer window.
Despite spending just two years at Stamford Bridge, the winger has found himself linked with a move to another Premier League club.
In fact, one pundit and former top-flight star has now shared his reaction to this potential move.

Troy Deeney assesses Raheem Sterling potentially joining Man United
After it was recently reported by BBC Sport that Manchester United have held exploratory talks about signing Sterling, Troy Deeney had this to say when asked in a video shared on the Sky Sports Premier League YouTube channel if he thinks the United fans would be bothered by seeing their club add a former City star to their ranks.
He said: “In years gone passed no, now he’s better than everything they’ve got there.
“When you come in and you change what they have, at the moment he’s delivering more than what Marcus [Rashford] is doing.
“He probably gives more of a leadership role to the likes of [Alejandro] Garnacho and Amad [Diallo] as well who scored at the weekend.
“So those guys will look at Raheem, see that he’s won it at City, seeing what he’s done at Liverpool, what he’s done at the international stage and go right I can learn off that.
“So I think United fans will probably look at it like it’s an improvement because at the moment when I watched United, I thought they did okay at the weekend. I thought they just lacked one or two bits.
“If they could get Luke Shaw back at left-back, I think that adds a completely different dynamic. And then they need a striker, which is why I’m baffled they’re not going for Ivan Toney, personally.
“I think that’s a quick fix like the [Robin] Van Persie one, you just plot him in and it works.
“And then for right now I just think they need a winger. I don’t think Marcus is delivering and then I think Anthony’s nothing.
“I don’t mean that disrespectfully but they’re not offering nothing to the level that they should do for a team like Man United.”
Sterling could be a top player for United
During his time at City, Sterling scored 131 goals and delivered 73 assists in 339 games, winning multiple domestic trophies along the way including four Premier League titles.
Back in July, Sterling said that former City player Fabian Delph helped the winger settle into the club when he first arrived back in 2015.
Since joining Chelsea, the 29-year-old has found the back of the net 19 times and supplied 12 assists in 81 matches across all competitions.
Given the experience he has of winning titles as Deeney mentioned, in addition to his clear ability to deliver goal contributions, Sterling could be a useful addition to United, who scored 39 fewer goals than City in the Premier League last season.
