Troy Deeney says Man City have a £175k-a-week defender who’s better than Trent Alexander-Arnold

Troy Deeney has ranked one Manchester City defender higher than Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Manchester City and Liverpool will come face-to-face on Sunday as they compete in a game that could determine the Premier League title race.

Pep Guardiola’s side came back from behind to defeat neighbours Manchester United on the weekend and it was a crucial victory to remain in touching distance of the league leaders.

It could be the last time City come up against Jurgen Klopp in the league and it’s all on the line with Liverpool leading by just a single point.

No doubt there’s going to plenty of comparisons and rankings ahead of the game and Troy Deeney has kicked things off by placing Kyle Walker above Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Troy Deeney ranks Kyle Walker and Trent Alexander-Arnold

Former Watford striker Deeney filmed a TikTok in which he rated some of the Premier League’s great defenders in a top 10 list.

However, the catch is he could only rank players one at a time. Many of the spots were already taken when City captain Walker was drawn but Deeney put him as high as possible.

“Kyle’s up there as well,” he said as he ranked him fourth.

That was above Micah Richards in fifth and Alexander-Arnold who was placed down in eighth.

Gary Neville ranked top with Sol Campbel and Kolo Toure also in front of £175k-a-week man Walker.

A massive match incoming

The stakes could not be higher when City travel to Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

The winner of the match will have the title race in their own hands and with the way each team is going, there might not be another chance to overtake the other.

This also gives a huge advantage to Liverpool who could draw the game and still be above City but it would open the door for Arsenal to go top on goal difference.

The Blues have struggled on the red half of Merseyside in the past and will have to be at their absolute best.
