Troy Deeney hails Jack Grealish after England call-up
Speaking on talkSPORT (6/9 10:43 AM), Troy Deeney had this to say about Jack Grealish after the winger was called up to play for England in their Nations League games against Ireland and Finland.
He said: “On his day, he is one of the best players in world football. I am not smoking up his backside. You know was at Villa and I don’t really like them anyway, but he is a very, very talented player.
“I think the hurt of not making the squad, for him, [James] Maddison and the like, will make them go, right, let’s get back in there now.”
Grealish will want to shine for City and England this season
Deeney isn’t the only pundit to share their praise for the City star following his latest Three Lions call-up, as Paul Merson recently said that Grealish should always be in the England squad for any competition.
Taking into account how the 28-year-old ended up not being included in the squad for the 2024 European Championship, it’s safe to say that getting called up by Lee Carsley for these games will give him a big confidence boost.
Moving forward, now that Deeney has shared his praise for Grealish, this should also give him the belief that he can go on and become a pivotal player for City and England again.
