Phil Foden has shared one thing he loved about Manchester City’s recent game against Fluminense.
The Citizens secured a 4-0 victory over the Brazilian side last night in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup.
After scoring City’s third goal of the game and being the one who forced Nino to put the ball in his own net, the Englishman found himself speaking to the media at full-time and shared one thing he enjoyed about the showdown in Saudi Arabia.
Foden says he loved one thing about Fluminense

Speaking to FIFA (via Planeta do Futebol) after the game, Foden had this to say about Fluminense and last night’s game.
He said: “Unbelievable match. I loved the way they play, they didn’t make it easy. We showed heart, determination, we’re not used to the heat. I’m delighted with the outcome. This is so important for Man City. I’m delighted. It’s massive for the club.”
Looking back over the match, City had 54% possession and managed to rack up 15 attempts at goal compared to Fluminense’s five.
In the game, the Brazilian side played out from the back quite a lot, with the defenders and goalkeeper playing short passes between them rather close to their goal and invited a lot of pressure from the likes of Foden and City’s other attacking players to press them.
In fact, both sides ended the match with 90% passing accuracy, showing how similar the two styles of play were on the night and why Foden enjoyed playing against a side that played in a similar fashion to City.
However, with the Premier League champions ending the game with an overall team rating of 7.2/10 compared to Fluminense’s 6.41/10 according to SofaScore, this shows the gulf in quality and why the right team won the trophy.
