Rodri lavished praise upon Julian Alvarez, who stole the show for Manchester City in their 3-1 win against Red Star Belgrade.
In an interview with TNT Sports, the Spanish midfielder gave his two cents on the Sky Blues’ dominant display on Tuesday night.
Rodri singled out Julian Alvarez as the standout performer for Manchester City against Red Star Belgrade.
Rodri raves about ‘unbelievable’ Julian Alvarez after Manchester City beat Red Star Belgrade
Branded as ‘extraordinary’ by Khaldoon Al-Mubarak, the Argentine levelled the scores by picking the ball up on the half-turn, playing a delightful exchange with Erling Haaland and putting the ball into the back of the net.
While Alvarez’s second goal of the night was fortuitous as his free-kick should have been kept out by Glazer, his all-round performance in the hole was simply stunning.
So much so that Rodri gave Julian Alvarez a special mention when breaking down how Manchester City defeated Red Star Belgrade.

“At the end, we scored three goals, Julian was unbelievable, Kyle [Walker] by half a metre was close and then I could score so yeah, I think, complete game in all terms.”
Best game for Julian Alvarez as a No.10
Rodri was bang on the money as Julian Alvarez was perhaps the best player on the pitch as Manchester City kickstarted their Champions League campaign in style.
While the World Cup winner has had a cracking start to the season, his performances as a No.10 have largely been flawed.
Unsurprisingly, as Alvarez is a natural striker, which is why he lacks a creator’s instincts and his technical game has seemed like it has needed improvement.
However, in his last two games, the former River Plate frontman has looked at his absolute best in this newfound role.
Especially against Red Star Belgrade, the way Julian Alvarez was receiving the ball in tight spaces, generating goalscoring opportunities for himself and linking up play was the best it has looked this campaign.
