James McAtee is reportedly close to sealing a transfer move to Sheffield United.
After spending last season on loan at the Yorkshire club, the 20-year-old then joined City in their pre-season tour of Asia and has been in Pep Guardiola’s senior squad for their early games of the campaign.
Now though, on the final day of the summer transfer window, the midfielder looks to be on his way out of the Manchester club once again.
McAtee close to Blades reunion

In a recent Twitter post, journalist Nathan Hemmingham had this to say on the matter.
He said: “Understand James McAtee is in Sheffield to finalise a loan move from Man City.”

During his time at Bramall Lane last season, the Englishman scored nine goals and delivered three assists across 37 Championship appearances, helping the club make their way back to the Premier League.

Having played just one minute of action for City this season, which came late in their opening league game against Burnley, and being an unused substitute for their other matches, it’s safe to say that the youngster isn’t likely to be a regular starter for the treble winners this season.
Therefore, we feel that a return to United, who have reportedly been keen to sign the player again since earlier in the window, where he can play regularly and get to grips with the Premier League on a consistent basis would be an ideal next step for him and his development.
Moving forward, looking ahead to the remainder of the season, if McAtee can have a successful campaign with Paul Heckingbottom’s side again and play regularly with more goals and assists added to his tally for the club, he’ll put himself in a great position to make a return to City and be in with a chance of finally being a prominent player for them.
