Enzo Maresca has now confirmed that Manchester City loanee Callum Doyle could be sidelined for the next four months.
The 43-year-old shared the disappointing news in his press conference earlier on Friday.
So, what did Enzo Maresca say about Manchester City wonderkid Callum Doyle? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, this is very upsetting news.
Doyle had been in outstanding form for Leicester so far this season, starting all eight games in the Championship as the Foxes sit top of England’s second tier.
The centre-back has helped Maresca’s side boast the best defensive record in the Championship with just five goals conceded in those eight outings.
Now – however – Doyle will be absent for a lengthy period with a knee injury.
Maresca was quoted by the Leicester Mercury as saying: “Between 12 and 16 weeks. I said in the press conference before Liverpool that he is the only player, being left-footed, that we have… been unlucky. That position, he was the only one.”

The Italian added that the Manchester City loanee will do his rehabilitation at Leicester – rather than return to the Etihad Stadium.
Hopefully, Doyle’s recovery goes smoothly, and he can return as soon as possible to help Leicester continue their promotion fight.
Manchester City have a real talent in Callum Doyle
Pep Guardiola and others at the Etihad Stadium will be hugely disappointed by this news, as Doyle is a prospect of real potential.
The teenager has already racked up 100 appearances in senior football, and was even described as the best passer in League One by Lee Johnson during his loan spell at Sunderland in the 2021/22 campaign.
As quoted by the Chronicle, the 42-year-old said: “His passing ability is already, in my opinion, the best in the division.”

Doyle is also an England Under-21 international at the age of just 19, scoring in his one and only appearance for the Three Lions at that level so far.
There is no doubt that Manchester City have a diamond on their hands – hopefully, he is back in action soon.
