Ledley King has claimed that Jeremy Doku will add something different to Manchester City’s team.
Earlier this week, it was reported that the Manchester club had agreed a deal worth £55m to sign the winger from Rennes.
With this move now all but officially confirmed, one pundit and former Premier League player has shared some insight into the 21-year-old and what he could bring to Pep Guardiola’s side.
King discusses Doku transfer

Speaking in a recent edition of the Football Daily podcast, King had this to say about Doku when asked if he will be seen as City’s replacement for Riyad Mahrez, who left the club earlier in the summer to join Al Ahli in a deal worth £30m.
He said: “He’s very different to Mahrez. Mahrez was a slower, jinkier player who held on to the ball. Now I look at the new signing Jeremy, he’s more of a dynamic player, he’s a player that likes to attack on the outside.

“Little bit different to what we’re used to seeing at City, normally they’re a team that control the ball and pass, pass, pass into the back of the net.
“So it’s a little bit different but I think Pep’s always looking at how he can elevate his team from the last season to this season, what can they do a bit differently? What can they add? And there’s no doubt he’s a very skilful individual player, he’s going to cause a lot of problems.”

During his time at Rennes, the attacker scored 12 goals and supplied 10 assists in 92 appearances across all competitions.
The previous Ligue 1 campaign saw Doku end the campaign with the fifth-highest rate of shot-creating actions per 90 minutes (5.65), putting him above Kylian Mbappe (4.57).
In addition to that, only Lionel Messi (102) had more successful take-ons than the Belgian (96), which shows how much of a difficult figure he can be to defend against.
This backs up what King had to say about the winger being a dynamic and skilful player that can cause problems for opposition defenders.
With all of that in mind, it’s safe to say that the Citizens could have a very exciting player on their hands that can help strengthen their attack.
