Branded as ‘elite’ by WhoScored, the 18-year-old continues to cement his reputation as one of the best young strikers in the world.

With four goals in four Premier League games so far this season, Ferguson especially caught the eye with his stunning hat-trick against Newcastle United.

Now, Alan Shearer, who continues to remain the league’s highest goalscorer till date has said that Manchester City-linked sensation Evan Ferguson reminds him of himself.

“But as I watched Ferguson against Newcastle, I caught myself thinking, ‘yeah, I recognise that’ or, ‘Hmm, I may have seen some of that before’. I don’t know whether it was his exuberance or confidence, the touch of arrogance but that little strut, the way he handled himself, was very reminiscent of how I felt at that age. Goals were my drug and we share the addiction.”

Evan Ferguson is the real deal

Whether Manchester City actually make a move for the highly-rated talent or not, it is testament to his brilliance that a legendary goalscorer like Alan Shearer sees himself in him.

Despite only being a teenager, it seems unlikelier than Ferguson will flatter to deceive than reach the top.

The youngster is already a physical specimen, a ruthless finisher, technically secure and adept with his back to goal.

As long as Evan Ferguson continues to develop under Roberto De Zerbi, his future club, be it Manchester City or another top side will benefit of his immense potential.
