‘Very strong’… Amadou Onana says Man City have a defender who is unbelievably powerful

Amadou Onana has revealed that Manchester City centre-back Ruben Dias is extremely “strong.”

Since City signed him for a £63 million (Sky Sports) fee in 2020, the 26-year-old’s strength has always been one of his standout features.

Often, fans and pundits alike question whether players who make their move to the Premier League will be able to handle the physical side of things.

However, the treble-winner used his physicality to bully forwards from day one, with Richard Dunne likening him to Vincent Kompany in 2021.

While also being one of the best centre-backs in the world, especially in physical battles, it seems like virtually no attacker has given Dias a headache in his four years at the Etihad Stadium.

Amadou Onana, who is known for being one of the strongest players in the league has shared that Ruben Dias is also built like a brick.

“Strong guy. Very strong, very good on the ball as well, very intelligent. So, yeah, I like him, very good defender”, he said in an interview with the Premier League [via their official YouTube channel].

Shows how strong Ruben Dias is if the Everton midfielder thinks so

The fact that Amadou Onana mentioned Ruben Dias’ strength twice is an indicator of how powerful he is.

One of the reasons why the Belgian is a nuisance to face for any and every midfielder is due to his one-of-a-kind physical stature.

In fact, Amadou Onana has bullied several midfield cohorts during his time in England, such as during his side’s 1-0 win against Arsenal at Goodison Park last season.

However, having faced Ruben Dias, he perhaps is aware that if there is a player he may be unable to bully in a physical battle, it is him.

The Portuguese colossus is clearly not one to be messed with on a football pitch, which is the reputation every centre-back would perhaps hope to have.
