Video: Man City players congratulate Julian Alvarez upon training return for World Cup win

After Julian Alvarez returned to training, Manchester City players were seen congratulating the World Cup winner.

Earlier this month, Alvarez lifted the elusive trophy with Argentina, who beat France on penalties in a dramatic final.

The 22-year-old played a key role during the World Cup, scoring an impressive 4 goals for Lionel Scaloni’s side.

At the start of the tournament, Julian Alvarez was not Argentina’s main striker in the side.

Instead, it was Lautaro Martinez who earned his fair share of critics after misfiring at the competition.

Simultaneously, Alvarez started to make a serious impression off the bench, first dispatching a venomous strike in Argentina’s 2-0 win against Poland in the final group game.

Julian Alvarez, alongside Rodrigo De Paul went on to press Australia No.1 Maty Ryan into an error in the last-16 clash, before knocking in the ball in the back of the net.

In the World Cup semi-final against Croatia, it was La Arana who bagged a brilliant brace as well, as Manchester City News analyzed his stellar showing on the night.

While in the final, the youngster did not need a goal to his name to put in an all-encompassing display.
