A video has emerged showing what Joao Cancelo did in the tunnel before Manchester City’s pre-season match against Bayern Munich.
Following on from their 5-3 win over Yokohama F. Marinos, the Manchester club took on Bayern for their second match in their pre-season tour of Asia.
Building up to the match, some behind-the-scenes footage emerged showing what one City figure did involving some of the players Pep Guardiola’s side faced in their midweek match.
Cancelo links up with Bayern mates ahead of City clash
In a recent post on their official Twitter account, the German club shared a video that showed Cancelo linking up and greeting several Bayern players in the tunnel before the players went out to play the game.
The post was captioned with the phrase “familiar faces” followed by a handshake emoji to highlight the friendliness between the City defender and the Bayern players.
After having a reported behind-the-scenes fall out with Guardiola in January, the Portuguese international ended up joining the Bundesliga side on loan until the end of the season towards the end of the previous winter transfer window.
During his time in Munich, the 29-year-old ended up making 21 appearances for Thomas Tuchel’s side across all competitions, scoring one goal and delivering seven assists in the process.
Despite having an option to buy the right-back permanently once his loan deal ended, Bayern decided not to.
Now that this video has emerged, it’s clear that the City outcast certainly made an impression on the players he ended up winning the Bundesliga alongside given how pleased they were to see him again.
Moving forward, with Cancelo’s future still up in the air, it’ll be interesting to see what his next step could be in terms of his career and where he ends up playing next season.
