The 2025/26 campaign is set to be a big one in the career of Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku.
Since he arrived from Rennes during the summer of 2023, the Belgian has been hit and miss at the Etihad Stadium, as he has the ability to create something magical, while at the same time, frustrating fans with his end product.
This is an element of the game Doku needs to get right throughout the upcoming season, as his numbers were disappointing last time around, producing just eight goals and nine assists across 41 matches.
Doku impressed at the FIFA Club World Cup, as Pep Guardiola trusted the 23-year-old to be his starter on the left wing, but only time will tell if the former Anderlecht star can kick on from there.

Vincent Kompany tells Jeremy Doku to dribble less
Everyone knows Doku is an incredible dribbler; however, the winger tends to overdo it at times, and often makes his path to goal complicated for himself, which is an issue the Man City star has to fix if he is to be more productive for his team.
Shay Given has challenged Doku to add more goals to his game, and his former Anderlecht boss, Vincent Kompany, has told the 23-year-old how he can do this.
“Arrive at the back post to score the easy goals. You don’t always need to do 15 dribbles or something unbelievable,” the Man City legend told Doku as part of a video on the Jeremy Doku Official YouTube channel.
“Arrive in the right areas and score the easy goals, and then the other things [skills you have] will always be there.”
Man City fans will encourage Doku to listen to their former captain’s advice, and the important thing from the video is that the player seems to already know this, which suggests it is something that he is working on.
This season is a big one for Doku, as it could determine if his career at City follows the path of Raheem Sterling or Jack Grealish.

Jeremy Doku can learn from Raheem Sterling’s time at Man City
Sterling will go down as one of the best wingers to ever play for Manchester City as the Englishman thrived at the Etihad Stadium under Guardiola’s leadership.
The legendary coach turned the former Liverpool star into a lethal weapon on the left wing, which should show Doku that the Spanish coach knows what he is doing.
A key element of Sterling’s game that Guardiola worked on was making the back post for easy tap-ins, which became a trait in the winger, as he would use it to go on to score 131 goals and assist a further 86 for the Manchester club.
Doku is similar to Sterling in many ways, but there is still a long way to go before the Belgian reaches the level of the Man City legend during his peak years.
