Gary O’Neil has praised Manchester City loanee Tommy Doyle for his work ethic.
During the previous summer transfer window, Wolves signed Doyle on a season-long loan deal from City, which includes an option for the Old Gold to buy the midfielder permanently in the summer for a fee of £4.3m.
The Englishman grabbed the headlines recently after he scored a cracking goal that saved his side from getting knocked out of the FA Cup by securing a 1-1 draw against Brentford.
This then led to his current manager sharing his praise for the player and one aspect he has been particularly impressed with about the 22-year-old.
O’Neil showers praise on Doyle

Speaking to the media (via The Athletic) after the match against Brentford, O’Neil had this to say about Doyle.
He said: “He works so hard, Tommy is in every day around the place. This week, when we got the new balls from Mitre — normally we play with a Nike ball in the Premier League — Tommy wanted to do extra work with the ball to get used to it.
“He did extra shooting this week, extra long-range passing. That is how diligent and professional he is. He wants to get the best out of himself and cover everything he can.
“When he dragged the ball onto his left foot, I thought, oh, not sure Tom, but he rifled it in the top corner. Such an incredible goal and he deserves it. His performances against Everton and Brentford were fantastic for us when we’ve been missing one of our key players in Mario [Lemina]. Tommy stepped up.
“You build trust from the manager, from your teammates, from the supporters, and it’s no surprise he does well when he comes in because he trains so hard. He doesn’t have a minute off. You never see him get disappointed. You never see him train at 80%. He works incredibly hard and those guys are always ready.”
Since joining Wolves, the midfielder has started just five of the 14 games he’s featured in across all competitions.
With O’Neil revealing how much of a hard worker Doyle has been since he made his move to Molineux, it’s clear that he got his reward with the goal he scored yesterday.
Having now completed the full 90 minutes in both of Wolves’ two previous matches, it’ll be interesting to see if the Englishman continues to play regularly and can show everyone what he’s capable of producing on a regular basis.
