Pep Guardiola has shared an update regarding the fitness of Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.

The Norwegian has missed City’s two previous games with an apparent foot injury.

With the Citizens now set to take on Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium tomorrow for their latest Premier League outing, the Spaniard has shared an update on Haaland’s fitness and potential availability.

Speaking in his latest press conference ahead of tomorrow’s match against Palace, Guardiola had this to say about Haaland and his current fitness status.

He said: “Arrive today, we see the doctors and we will see. He’s had treatment [away.] Hopefully, he can travel to Saudi, tomorrow after the game, we see if he plays the first game or second.

“I don’t think so [play vs Palace], maybe he surprises me. No. Not fractured, just stress. Sometimes players recover quickly, longer. Day by day, week by week, how he feels. The moment he doesn’t have pain he will play.”

Prior to last weekend’s 2-1 win over Luton Town, Haaland had started all of City’s Premier League games, scoring 14 goals in the process.

This shows just how important he is for the team and why not having him available for tomorrow’s clash against the Eagles would be a blow for them.

However, if the centre-forward is able to get back to full fitness during the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup and help his side win the tournament before returning to domestic action, this will be a big positive for City, who will then be hoping he can keep his fitness up for the remainder of the season.

Looking ahead to tomorrow’s game against Roy Hodgson’s side, Guardiola will have to make sure his available players have what it takes to get all three points and make sure they don’t fall behind the other teams in the title race.
