Ederson has praised Pep Guardiola for the way he has helped coach his players at Manchester City.
The Spaniard is in his eighth season in charge of the Citizens and could become the first manager to win four Premier League titles in a row if his side are crowned champions again at the end of the campaign.
Even though it’s still early days in the season, one current City star, who is one of the club’s most experienced players in terms of working with the 52-year-old, has shared some insight into what it has been like to work with him.
Ederson hails Guardiola influence
Speaking in a recent interview shared on the club’s official website, Ederson had this to say about the manager.
He said: “Pep is an innovative coach, a manager who is able to make teams play in the way that he thinks is best, in the way that he thinks is most productive for the team.
“Anything that he asks of the players, in any way that’s different from what we’re used to, we’ll work on it because we’ve spent a lot of time together, we have Pep’s DNA already, we know the way in which he works, so it’s not as difficult for us.”
During his time in charge of City, Guardiola has overlooked 421 games across all competitions prior to today’s Premier League match against Nottingham Forest, winning 312, drawing 49 and losing 60.
With only Kevin De Bruyne (317), Bernardo Silva (312) and Ilkay Gundogan (304) making more appearances under the Spaniard than Ederson (296), it’s safe to say that the Brazilian has a firm grasp of what it’s like to learn under the manager and get to grips with what his players need to do on the pitch.
Bearing in mind how successful the City boss has been in terms of winning silverware in England and breaking numerous records in doing so, it’s easy to see why Ederson thinks Guardiola is such an innovative coach and has been key to the club’s success.
Now that the goalkeeper has said that he and the rest of his teammates are now more accustomed to adjusting to new ideas the manager shares due to the significant amount of time they’ve had working together, this should please a lot of City supporters and give them confidence that the team can continue being successful.
