West Ham now open to selling ‘stylish’ £30m player Man City were previously linked with

West Ham United are reportedly open to selling previous Manchester City target, Nayef Aguerd, during the January transfer window.

The Manchester club were linked with a move for the centre-half back in September, when it was reported that the Citizens and Liverpool admire the Moroccan.

Despite the two north-west clubs being linked with a summer move for the Hammers player, it has now been reported that they may not need to wait until the end of the season to land deal for him.

According to a recent report from Evening Standard, the east London club are open to offers for Aguerd and could be willing to let him go this month if a suitable offer comes their way and they’re able to sign a replacement.

West Ham only signed the centre-back in the 2022 summer transfer window from Rennes for £30m.

Since then, the 27-year-old has gone on to make 51 appearances for the Hammers across all competitions, chipping in with four goals along the way.

Almost a year ago, David Moyes described Aguerd as being a “stylish” player in terms of his ability on the ball.

In regards to his output off the ball, Kurt Zouma (82) is the only West Ham player that has made more clearances in the Premier League this season than the Morocco international (70).

Even though Pep Guardiola already has a healthy number of defenders in his squad, the fact that City have only kept five clean sheets in the Premier League this season says to us that the potential arrival of Aguerd this month would add more competition for a place in the team and make the current Blues defenders work harder.

Taking all of that into account, we feel that it could be worth City making an approach to the Hammers this month to see what sort of fee it could take for them to land a deal for Aguerd if they feel he could be a useful addition to the squad.
