Nedum Onuoha has shared his admiration for Rodri and the development he’s had at Manchester City.
The midfielder had another busy campaign in Pep Guardiola’s side last season, which ended with him scoring the winning goal in City’s Champions League final victory over Inter Milan.
Now that the new campaign is not far away from getting started, one former City player has shared his praise for the club’s Champions League hero.
Onuoha raves over Rodri

Speaking in a recent episode of the Official Man City Podcast, Onuoha had this to say about Rodri.
He said: “What a guy. He loves football, he seems like he loves his teammates, he strives to do more, doesn’t want to be in the limelight.
“The players that are that good that don’t want to be in the limelight are amazing to me, like David Silva in the past, you can talk about Kevin [De Bruyne] as well, they’re astonishing. They’re so good and I think the fact that he played pretty much every game last season, played to such a high standard, and is now one of the best in the world in that position, I think it says a lot about his development as a player, development as a person as well and I’m delighted that he scored the winner.
“Obviously anyone could have scored it and I’d have been celebrating but it’s like a win for the good guys it felt like.
“He’s such a personable guy, really welcoming. Not in a disrespectful way because he’s always gets killed for the type of clothes he wears and stuff like that but it shows that it doesn’t matter, the stuff that matters is what he is and that’s why he’s an astonishing player.
“He’s turned into a favourite of a lot of fans and you never would have thought that would be the case when only a few years ago it was Fernandinho and no one else was ever going to be able to replace him, but now he’s doing it his own way and is an integral part of this football team.”

City splashed out £62m to sign the 27-year-old back in the 2019 summer transfer window from Atletico Madrid and have since gone on to see the midfielder make 208 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring 17 goals and delivering 16 assists along the way.
Having featured in all but five of the Citizens’ matches last season, this shows how significant he is for the team and Guardiola.
In fact, across his 36 Premier League appearances, Rodri ended the campaign with the highest total of combined tackles and interceptions (100) at City, as well as making more progressive passes (260) than any other player at the club.
Now that the new season is close to starting, it’s safe to say that the midfielder will have another busy campaign ahead of him and will be playing a big role in potentially seeing City regain their three titles.
