As Manchester City ultimately eased past Brentford with a 3-1 win, Gary Lineker pinpointed how Phil Foden is continuing to elevate his game.
After the clash, Nathan Ake also singled the 23-year-old out for praise after his stunning hat-trick against the Bees on Monday night.
Pep Guardiola compared the Englishman’s ability to open teams up to a knife and emphasised that he has not seen many players like him with the same knack for doing so.
Gary Lineker says Phil Foden keeps getting “better and better”
Michail Antonio also highlighted the treble-winner’s technical ability, vision, awareness and pace as traits that make him such a special player, in his opinion.
After the encounter, the Stockport-born midfielder signalled his ambition to lead his boyhood club to victory by registering crucial goals and assists.
Gary Lineker also briefly touched on how Phil Foden continues to improve his game in a Manchester City shirt.

“He just gets better and better does, Phil Foden. What a player”, he said on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Phil Foden must strive to keep improving
Gary Lineker is spot on about Phil Foden, who has managed to adapt his game to multiple roles for Pep Guardiola’s side ever since he broke through into Manchester City’s first-team and continued to go from strength to strength.
As the five-time Premier League winner has become somewhat of City’s main man this season, his goal should be to continue to improve.
If Foden continues to spearhead his side to wins as he has so far, by the time the campaign comes to an end, he may have no doubters left.
But even more importantly, Phil Foden is still a young player and as magnificent as he is, he would perhaps admit himself that his game still has plenty of notches to reach. As a result, the silky technician should be aware that as far as his development is concerned, the job is far from done.
