Branded as a ‘special player’ by Pep Guardiola via Manchester Evening News, a claim was made on Sunday that any loan move for the 20-year-old will be blocked if Bernardo Silva leaves the club.
The ‘Salford Silva’ enjoyed a cracking campaign out on loan at Sheffield United in the Championship last season, with nine goals and three assists to his name.
Now, Josh Wilson-Esbrand has clearly been delighted by James McAtee partaking from the off in a Manchester City shirt against Yokohoma F.Marinos during pre-season.

“What a sight”, the highly-rated left-back commented.
Manchester City supporters would certainly agree with the defender
Considering James McAtee has always been tipped to become a future superstar at Manchester City, Josh Wilson-Esbrand, much like the club’s fanbase would have been buzzing to see him start against Yokohama F.Marinos.
With Ilkay Gundogan having left the Etihad Stadium and the English midfielder continuing to progress, it seems like a bigger role could be in store for him next season.
While Phil Foden was expected to be fielded as his side’s No.10 on the day, the fact that it was James McAtee instead could be a message from Pep Guardiola that he too could start much more regularly if he takes his chance.
At the end of the day, it was always a lovely sight to see academy talents like McAtee be involved with the senior team.
