Manchester City were dealt another disappointing blow in what has been a difficult run of form for the club.
Following on from last weekend’s thrashing against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, City were back at the Etihad Stadium for their latest Champions League match – this time taking on Feyenoord.
After 53 minutes, Pep Guardiola’s side were cruising at 3-0. However, three goals conceded in the space of 14 minutes saw the home side blow their three-goal lead and settle for a draw.
In the early stages of the Citizens’ collapse, a pundit and former Premier League star – who was on commentary duty for this match – noticed the City manager doing something in the home dugout that garnered a reaction.

Alan Shearer highlights Pep Guardiola frustration in Feyenoord draw
After Feyenoord scored their first goal of the match, Alan Shearer said this on Amazon Prime’s coverage of the match after spotting Guardiola sitting with his head in his hands.
He said: “It’s not that bad, you’re still winning 3-1. But you can see and feel his pain. He wanted a clean sheet, nothing stupid given away. He wants everything to be perfect.”
Things went from bad to worse for City
Bearing in mind how Guardiola has seen his side concede 14 goals across their five previous games heading into the Feyenoord match, it’s understandable why the Catalan looked so disturbed by the first goal his side conceded in their latest match.

Having then gone on to concede on two more occasions and blow a three-goal lead to walk away with just a point, City will undoubtedly see this draw as a defeat given the nature of how the game panned out.
So if Shearer was somewhat surprised by how downtrodden the City manager looked when his side conceded their first goal of the match, he’d surely be feeling even worse afterwards.
With the Blue now without a win in six games, their next match against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday has just become even more crucial in how the rest of their season goes.
