Manchester City have been drawn to face Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.
The Citizens earned a knockout clash against the Danish side – who finished second in Group A – after topping Group G ahead of RB Leipzig.
So, what happened last time Manchester City faced UEFA Champions League Round of 16 opponents Copenhagen? Let’s take a look…
What happened last time Manchester City faced Copenhagen?
Well, some have described this as an easy game for the treble winners – although Manchester City’s neighbours Manchester United will strongly disagree.
The Danish outfit managed to record a thrilling 4-3 win over the Red Devils in Group A despite being 2-0 down and also 3-2 behind during that clash.
However, Pep Guardiola will surely be confident about securing a place in the Quarter-Final based on what happened last season.

The Citizens were actually in the same group as Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League last season – coincidentally, that was also Group G.
Manchester City made light work of the Danish giants in the first of two meetings in Group G, recording a comprehensive 5-0 win at the Etihad Stadium thanks to goals from Erling Haaland, Riyad Mahrez and Julian Alvarez.
The Citizens were then held to a 0-0 draw in the reverse fixture inside the Parken Stadium.

Many will obviously look at the 5-0 win and think this season’s upcoming clash will be easy.
However, it must be noted that Copenhagen managed to hold the eventual treble winners to a 0-0 draw in Denmark, while Alvarez, Mahrez, Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan, Rodri and Jack Grealish were all named in the starting XI.
Sergio Gomez was sent off after 30 minutes – although that was still an impressive achievement nonetheless.
The Danish giants have only improved since then under Jacob Neestrup – so anybody who believes this UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie will be simple should think again.
