Manchester City are no strangers to cashing in on certain players during summer transfer windows.
Specifically, City have sold players such as Cole Palmer, Ferran Torres, Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling during Pep Guardiola’s reign at the Etihad Stadium.
Another player the club have let go of in a big money deal in recent memory is Leroy Sane, who joined Bayern Munich in 2020 after four years with the Citizens.
After it was recently reported by Sky Germany (via Sky Sports News) that Arsenal are keeping an eye on Sane’s current contract situation at Bayern, let’s take a look at what the winger recently said about Mikel Arteta and their time together at City.

Leroy Sane’s previous praise for Mikel Arteta
Speaking to The Mirror back in April prior to Bayern’s Champions League match against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, Sane had this to say about Arteta when asked about his experience with him during their time together at City.
He said: “It was great. I was pleased to work with him because he actually really helped me at City.
“We had a lot of individual talks about how I can improve, strengths, my weaknesses, we worked a lot. I made huge improvements under him, he gave that to me.
“I still keep that in my mind and put that in my game – positioning, how to behave in certain positions. I’m thankful.”
Sane would be a good signing for Arsenal
During his time at City, Sane scored 39 goals and delivered 43 assists in 135 games, winning two Premier League titles along the way.
Since joining Bayern, the 28-year-old, whose current contract is set to expire next summer, has found the back of the net 48 times and supplied 50 assists in 175 games across all competitions.
If Sane, who former Arsenal defender Cedric Soares said back in May was always difficult to play against, ends up making a move back to England and joining his former coach and two of his former teammates at the North London club, we feel this would be a top signing for them.
