Julian Alvarez has had a very successful time as a Manchester City player.
With two seasons under his belt at the Etihad Stadium, the striker has won two Premier League trophies, an FA Cup, the Champions League, the UEFA SuperCup and FIFA Club World Cup.
Despite that, the 24-year-old has found himself being linked with a move away from the Manchester club in recent weeks, with journalist Cesar Luis Merlo claiming on his X account earlier this week that Atletico Madrid are looking to secure a deal for Alvarez.
Now though, some fresh behind-the-scenes details have come to light regarding what City have done in terms of trying to convince the Argentine to stay where he is.

Man City have spoken to Alvarez about next season amid summer exit rumours
A recent report from Caught Offside had this to say on the matter.
It said: “Manchester City have informed the representatives of Julian Alvarez that they do not plan to sell him this summer, despite transfer interest from the likes of Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
“It is understood that Alvarez is ready to stay at City, but he is keen to have more playing time next season.
“Guardiola himself rates Alvarez and there has been communication to reassure the player that he is a key part of the first-team picture at the Etihad Stadium.”
Keeping hold of Alvarez would be the ideal move for City
With 103 appearances for the Citizens under his belt, Alvarez has found the back of the net 36 times and supplied 18 assists for his side during what has been a very successful period for the club in terms of lifting silverware.
Having appeared in more Premier League games (36) than any other City player last season, this shows how important the World Cup and Copa America winner, who Stefan Ortega has previously praised for his finishing ability, is for his side.
Given how useful Alvarez is in terms of being an attacking threat and being able to play in numerous positions, as he did last season, we feel that keeping hold of him this summer would be a big positive for the Blues, whereas losing him could potentially decrease their chances of regaining the Premier League title next term.
