Manchester City will look to wrestle back the Premier League title from Arsenal in 2026/27 and the club is trying to build a squad capable of doing that. And reports that Omar Marmoush could depart are interesting
Enzo Maresca is in the building now, and the Italian will seek to build on the incredible success that Pep Guardiola oversaw.
The likes of Nico Gonzalez, Mateo Kovacic, Tijjani Reijnders and Rico Lewis are among the Man City players who could reportedly leave this summer 🤨
Which players are most likely to leave Man City this summer?
The foundations have been laid, but Maresca will also want to shape the squad and build a team in his image.
We have seen a few exits already this summer, with John Stones, Bernardo Silva and Nathan Ake all moving on.
Someone else who could depart is Omar Marmoush, and Maresca might want to consider that.
Why it might already be time for Man City to sell Omar Marmoush

TEAMtalk have cast doubt on Marmoush’s immediate future at City, reporting that he has interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.
The Egyptian will apparently seek clarification from Maresca about his role for the coming season.
That would indicate that he wants more game time, but it’s obviously tricky for him having Erling Haaland to compete with.
There are some arguments for City keeping him.
Firstly, Marmoush’s goal contribution rate has not actually been too bad. He’s scored 16 and made six assists in 61 appearances. But only around half of those have been starts.
There is also the versatility aspect. While he prefers to play through the middle, he can also operate on the left, and play just off the striker.
But ultimately, Marmoush just hasn’t really cut it since those initial weeks after he first signed.
At £59 million plus a further £4 million in add-ons, Marmoush is one of the club’s more expensive signings, and he is also reportedly on an astronomical wage of about £300,000 (via Goal).
Being on that kind of money means you need to deliver consistently. Marmoush has simply not done that.
We have seen glimpses of his quality. The goal he scored against Bournemouth towards the end of the 2024/25 season was truly something special.

But he has not kicked on. And his showings at the 2026 World Cup with Egypt have also been disappointing and drawn plenty of criticism on social media.
It’s hard to see his situation changing too much. City have lots of forward options after Haaland, who also make regular minutes tricky to come by.
Jeremy Doku plays on the left, and Jack Grealish could also return to become a new option for Maresca. Antoine Semenyo signed and is arguably now the second-best source of goals after Haaland, replacing Marmoush. New signing Jeremy Monga could even become a new rival for him.
Savinho could leave, but he plays on the right and that’s not really where Marmoush tends to operate.
He can play off the main striker, but then there are the likes of Phil Foden and Rayan Cherki.
This is all before City could even sign new players.

There is also an opportunity here for City to sell for a big fee. Spurs have been flashing the cash this summer, and Newcastle are also in desperate need of new recruits, having started the summer poorly.
There is a genuine chance for City to make their money back, or even turn a small profit given who is sniffing around.
Marmoush’s wages could make a sale tricky. But certainly, trying to sell him this summer has got to be a consideration based on the lackluster 18 months he’s had at the club.
