Nico O’Reilly has emerged as Manchester City’s unlikely saviour in recent weeks, coming up trumps once again by scoring the visitors’ first goal in their 2-0 victory against Everton at Goodison Park.

Bernardo Silva lauded O’Reilly’s progress recently and it was certainly on full display as he made a smart run inside the box and tapped in an inch-perfect cross from Matheus Nunes in the 84th minute.

But apart from the goal as well, the 20-year-old impressed at left-back, not giving Jack Harrison too much joy as he was touch-tight to him as well winning the physical battle while also being press-resistant in and around Manchester City’s box.

Nico O’Reilly looked comfortable when tasked to play as an inverted left-back when Pep Guardiola’s men had the ball as well in what was yet another accomplished display from him.

Much like Phil Foden and Rico Lewis in the past couple of years, O’Reilly’s rise is a reminder of how excellent Manchester City’s academy is and that was on full display as he shone once again against Everton.

Phil Foden pushed Nico O’Reilly to celebrate with Man City fans after beating Everton

Foden seems to be close to O’Reilly as he jogged up to his teammate and pushed him to celebrate with the Manchester City fans who were chanting the youngster’s name after their win against Everton.

It looked like O’Reilly was happy to stand amongst the Manchester City cohort and clap the fans but Phil Foden was keen on the versatile midfielder to embrace the appreciate coming his way from the supporters.

During Manchester City’s official post-match live show, the heartfelt moment was shown as the six-time Premier League winner displayed a true moment of camaraderie between the group.

Even Pep Guardiola encouraged O’Reilly after beating Bournemouth to do the same with the visiting fans.

Guardiola loves O’Reilly and Manchester City fans must to, as evidenced by their reaction to his heroics against Everton and senior members of the dressing room such as Foden must hold him in high regard too.

During the contest, the highly-rated wonderkid kissed the City badge thrice after scoring, which would have endeared him to the Sky Blues fanbase even more.

All sets of supporters thoroughly enjoy an academy graduate who also happens to support the same club live their dreams and O’Reilly seems to be cherishing every moment in a Manchester City shirt.
