Manchester City have turned their attention back to the Champions League, and it’s RB Leipzig who are the opponents on Wednesday – with Josko Gvardiol returning to his former club for the first time.

City have lost their last two games now, which has coincided with the suspension of Rodri.

It’s important for City to get back to winning ways.

And they’ll be hopeful of a victory against Leipzig, a side they smashed 7-0 in the last meeting back in March.

Gvardiol was in the Leipzig backline that night.

He, of course, now plays for City having transferred in the summer for £77 million.

Wednesday night will be a special occasion for him, and it turns out Leipzig do have something planned for his return…

He had a fantastic couple of years with the club, and became on the best young defenders in world football.

Leipzig were delighted with Gvardiol’s contributions, and still have a lot of respect for the 21-year-old.

And according to BILD, the club are actually planning some kind of official farewell for the player ahead of kick-off on Wednesday.

It is currently unclear what they plan to do specifically.

But with the game being at the Red Bull Arena, you would imagine there will be some kind of nice gesture, perhaps involving the fans.

Like Gvardiol, Konrad Laimer left Leipzig in the summer to join Bayern Munich.

Leipzig hosted Bayern at the weekend and before kick-off, he was presented with a rather appropriate red bull memento.

It remains to be seen if Pep Guardiola will hand the youngster a start against his former club, after Nathan Ake struggled against Wolves.
