Manchester City could reportedly be about to make a rather interesting transfer move.
Following last month’s arrival of Savinho from Troyes, it was reported earlier this week that Pep Guardiola has given his blessing for the Manchester club to pursue a move for Ilkay Gundogan after it was claimed the former City midfielder is likely to leave Barcelona this month.
With a potential return to the Etihad Stadium now a possibility, one of Gundogan’s former City teammates has now shared his thoughts on the 33-year-old.

Rodri hails Ilkay Gundogan
Appearing in a recent video shared on the official Goal TikTok channel, Rodri was involved in a word association challenge where he had to pick a player who suited a certain word or phrase.
When asked to pick a player he feels suits the tag of being underrated, Rodri picked Gundogan.
Bringing Gundogan back would be special for City
During his seven years with the Blues, Gundogan made 304 appearances across all competitions, scoring 60 goals, providing 38 assists and winning many trophies along the way.
With Rodri, the German featured in 148 games alongside the 28-year-old, racking up one joint-goal participation which came in the 2020 Carabao Cup final against Aston Villa.
In Gundogan’s final game as a City player, he captained the club in their Champions League final victory over Inter Milan where it was Rodri who scored the winning goal to secure the Treble for the Blues.
Now that the Spaniard has named Gundogan as being underrated, this could raise some questions about whether Rodri knows anything behind the scenes about his former midfield teammate making a return to City in the near future.
Either way, the fact that Rodri thinks Gundogan is underrated shows just how highly he thinks of the veteran, who would be a delight to see back in Guardiola’s side.
